The production of packaging artwork for Princes Foods comprised
of some strict guidelines as it required the placement of official
recycled logos, icons and weights and measures plus sizing of
Barcodes. This was true of both the Premium
Hotdogs in Brine and the Pura
Light Touch Sunflower Oil. |

Design
From ideas initial pre-mac scamps thought about and
produced on paper. |
The more feasible ideas were then designed into a number
of formal concepts using an Apple Mac computer and presented
on presentation board, or ISDNed to Princes Foods in Liverpool. |
Artwork
High resolution image scanning took place with some
image manipulation in Photoshop, from the original low
resolution manipulation. |
Production and tracing of some of the artwork in Freehand
and Illustrator, especially the customised typefaces and
the icons used. |
The elements were then laid out in Quarkxpress on the
Mac and prepared in CMYK ready for print as artwork. |
The artwork in this case was formalised ready for the
printer to go straight to film and plate. |
Print and Finishing
The artwork was sent to Princes Food printers in Liverpool.
A cromalin colour proof, taken from the printers films,
was sent back for final checking. |
Any major amendments were made in the artwork and re-sent
to the printer, though minor amendments were generally
made by the setters and printer in Liverpool. |
The finished job was applied to the jars and bottles
in Liverpool and samples were sent for portfolio purposes.
