The interest in information design and multimedia
has developed from my graphic design course at Ravensbourne
College of Design and Communication in Kent, and this continuing
interest was realised when entering the Information and Graphic
Design course at De Montfort University in Leicester - "To
take this academic interest to the next level".
The idea for an interactive system for the Channel Tunnel
came initially from a written research project to develop
and design interactive multimedia screens at BAA Airports
and production of screen for a Self Help Point (see Batchelors
Degree work). To produce a friendly familiar looking interactive
system in a way which would attract people rather than tend
to frighten them. If this idea worked then the uses of such
a system would potentially be highly advantageous.
In the development and research of the Master's Degree project
it has been the intention to conceive and produce an integrated
design system which would operate clearly, concisely, and
be simple to use for revealing Channel Tunnel information.
With my level of skill in graphic design and the potential
knowledge and experience of interactive information and multimedia
systems this has enabled me to apply myself directly to the
most significant elements of apparent importance of the project.
