These are some of the areas directly or indirectly affecting my neighbours and myself that I feel strongly about, and therefore take what I feel is the appropriate legal action.

This campaign was a more personal one to my neighbours and myself. The area is a compact estate built by in the mid 1960's. Even a small house extension such as a conservatory can change the outlook of a property.

So it was to our dismay when a doorway and staircase were constructed, without apparent notification for our neighbours or ourselves from the district council, directly opposite our homes. It is detrimental to the surrounding local environment not blending with the rest of the estate. It is an access point to an upper floor, therefore in full view from an extensive angle of vision, it is an eyesore, an obelisk, an intrusion to privacy and a potential threat to home security to many adjacent households due to its imposing outlook.

The aim:
The main aim of the correspondence was quite reasonable, to get the doorway covered up or removed by the owner of the property. In order to do this we needed to prove that the doorway and staircase were being used illegally in accordance with the planning regulations - which was achieved.

The secondary aim was to prove that the Mid Bedfordshire District Council planning department surveyors had not been thorough enough in their survey when allowing this planning decision to go ahead, thereby forcing them to rectify their errors - this is still ongoing.

The Correspondence:
Here are the letters and email references sent to various bodies involved, plus the local council members over a period of 3 to 4 years. It became a written battle with the local council, with full reference to abuse of planning regulations with overwhelming evidence produced by my neighbours and myself. The problem should have been rectified years ago, but for council inertia. The campaign goes on..........

If anybody has had similar incidents happen to them and found ways to solve these types of problems please let me know.

Further information coming soon - information retrieval work in progress.
